An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) The Spy in Black (released in the U.S. as "U-Boat 29"), the 1939 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger English World War I (WWI) military romantic spy action submarine adventure thriller ("Submarines streak the seas with red in slaughter of innocents... as the most beautiful spy an empire ever feared... proves the most dangerous woman a man ever loved!"; "Inside story of the submarine warfare!"; "Out of Europe's blackout of peace...flames the inside story of submarine warfare and international espionage!"; produced by Alexander Korda) starring Conrad Veidt, Valerie Hobson, Sebastian Shaw, Marius Goring, and June Duprez. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was NOT well restored. You can see signs of the restoration from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). good. The poster had paper loss in the letters and numbers at center, and a restorer has painted over much of the "B", "2", and "9". The borders of the poster had pinholes and small tears. There are a few tears that extend into the image area and there are some scuffs within the image. The inpainting in the center of the poster is noticeable, even from a distance away.
