Auction History Result 7m206 LOT OF 18 FULL METAL JACKET ENGLISH 8X10 STILLS 1987 Stanley Kubrick candids, Modine, Ermey Date Sold 7/1/2018 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 18 8x10 stills from Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, the 1987 Stanley Kubrick English/U.S. Vietnam War psychological military action thriller ("In Vietnam the wind doesn't blow it sucks"; "An epic story of the Vietnam War"; "Based on the novel 'The Short-Timers' by Gustav Hasford"; this movie features the classic chilling hour and a half boot camp sequence that could have been an entire movie in itself!) starring Matthew Modine (as Pvt. Joker), Adam Baldwin (as Animal Mother), Vincent D'Onofrio (as Pvt. Pyle), R. Lee Ermey (a real life Marine Drill Instructor who was originally technical adviser on the movie, but whom Kubrick hired to play the role of Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann; billed as "Lee Ermey"), Dorian Harewood, Arliss Howard, Kevyn Major Howard, and Ed O'Ross. Note that our consignor purchased these stills from Back Lot Movie Posters (a Hollywood store) in the 1990s. The owner of the store worked for Warner Bros. and told our consignor that was how he obtained these stills. When he acquired them, the owner was told that these were English stills, and they are on a different paper stock from that of U.S. stills, so it makes sense that they were likely printed in England, although there is no writing on the front or back.
