Date Sold 6/7/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) The Life of Riley, the 1927 William Beaudine silent fireman firefighter policeman Irish family relationship romantic love triangle comedy (about a police chief and a fire chief both after a rich widow, and they take her to a carnival, where a notorious con man tries to steal her away from both of them) starring George Sidney, Charles Murray (billed as "Charlie Murray"; in the title role as Timothy Riley), Stephen Carr, June Marlowe, and Myrtle Stedman. Charles Murray was one of the pioneer actors of early motion pictures. He began acting in 1912 and appeared in 282 movies altogether, 172 of them from before 1920. He was 40 years old when he began acting, and he often played middle-aged man roles (and progressed to old man roles as he aged). He played the title role in the 1925 version of "The Wizard of Oz", and he appeared in the "Cohens & Kellys" series of movies, along with George Sidney (the two co-starred in this movie in between making some of the Cohens & Kellys movies). Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. The stills have changed to a sepia color (typical of vintage stills) and there are some tack holes, tiny tears, and minor smudges around the edges.
