Note that this film is the second in the trilogy of movies based on the novel by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay and Ray's own experiences, the first was "Panther Panchali" in 1955, followed by "Aparajito" and in 1956 and "Apur Sansar" in 1959.
