An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Hungarian Movie Poster (measures 15 3/4" x 23 1/4" [40 x 59 cm]) (Learn More) Szegenylegenyek (released in English-speaking countries as "Hopeless Ones"), the 1966 Miklos Jancso Hungarian POW (prisoner of war) melodrama (about the Hungarian revolt against Austrian rule, set in 1868; about a prison full of Hungarian prisoners, and their Austrian captors know that revolutionary leaders are among the prisoners, and they set about torturing the prisoners to try to make them give up their leaders, which they refuse to do) starring Janos Gorbe, Zoltan Latinovits, Tibor Molnar, Gabor Agardi, Andras Kozak, Bela Barsi, and Jozesef Madaras. Note that this is one of the first feature movies from Hungarian director Miklos Jancso, who started making shorts a decade before this, and who made 83 movies all the way until 2012 (he passed away in 2014). Like many of his movies, this deals with the dehumanization of man under military or prison settings, showing the horrific things men will do when they are ordered to, as with the prison guards in this film. It is a very depressing movie, but certainly well worth seeing. Artist: Margit Sandor Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good.
