An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 25 1/2" x 39 1/4") (Learn More) the international theatrical release of Superman's Peril, the 1954 George Blair and Thomas Carr comic book superhero action adventure thriller (a compilation of 3 episodes of "The Adventures of Superman" TV series: episode #47 "The Golden Vulture", #44 "The Semi-Private Eye", and #32 "The Defeat of Superman") starring George Reeves (in the title role as Superman/Clark Kent), Noel Neill (as Lois Lane), Jack Larson (as Jimmy Olsen), John Hamilton (as Perry White), Robert Shayne (as Inspector Henderson), and Peter Whitney. Note that this was one of five compilation movies created out of episodes of this classic TV series. They were apparently solely shown outside the U.S. (which makes sense, since the episodes had been shown on TV in the U.S.), and we know that it is likely that one-sheets and lobby card sets were created for all five compilation features, but one-sheets from them are quite rare, and lobby cards are even more rare (which also makes sense, since lobby cards would have been far less likely to have been used in other countries). The other four titles were Superman and the Jungle Devil, Superman Flies Again, Superman in Exile, and Superman in Scotland Yard. The only reason we know so much about these titles is because a pressbook was created for all five features, and we once auctioned it, and it sold for $412! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet has been trimmed and it now measures 25 1/2" x 39 1/4". Condition: good. The poster had paper loss at all three crossfolds and creases, tears, and areas of paper loss along all of the foldlines. Most of the left, top, and right borders were trimmed off and there were many pinholes around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but it required a LOT of paint restoration, and it clearly has a very "restored" look to it, and the restorer did not bother to replace the left, top, or right borders.
