An Original Vintage Theatrical Cloth Banner Movie Poster (measures 35 1/2" x 119 1/2" [90 x 304 cm]) (Learn More)

Secret Service in Darkest Africa, the 1943 Spencer Gordon Bennet World War II (WWII) crime action Nazi spy espionage serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters"; about an American Secret Service agent sent to Africa in World War II, where Nazis and evil Arabs have joined together to help each other conquer the world) starring Rod Cameron, Joan Marsh, Duncan Renaldo, Lionel Royce, Kurt Kreuger, and Frederic Brunn. Note that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas' "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was directly inspired by the first chapter of this serial!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that cloth banners measure approximately 3 feet by 10 feet (36" x 116" inches) and were made for most movies of the 1920s and 1930s. They were printed on a heavy cloth material, and most often had metal "grommets" (round metal rings) inserted into the borders of the cloth at various intervals and in the corners, which allowed theaters to hang the banners by putting the "grommets" over nails in the walls (the grommets were inserted right when they were made, and they are not any sort of defect!). While one was made for most movies, very few survive, due to their size and the fragility of the cloth material (we have only previously auctioned two other cloth banners from any serial movies).

Condition: very good to fine. The cloth banner has grommets in the corners, and the material was folded over before the grommets were inserted, to give them extra strength. The material was not trimmed in the corners, as it looks at first glance, and this is not any sort of defect. The banner was stored folded, so it has many creases, but those could be greatly relaxed over time, and the banner is not at all fragile, as is very common with these cloth banners. I would say that this one has survived in about as nice condition as one could hope!
