An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 8" x 11" [20 x 28 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Romance and Rings, the 1919 Sidney Drew silent romantic marriage comedy short starring Sidney Drew and Mrs. Sidney Drew (about a groom who forgets the wedding ring during his wedding so his best man asks his wife for her ring to lend for the ceremony, but the new bride loves the ring and wants to keep it causing quite a dilemma!). Note that Sidney Drew was the brother of famed stage actor John Drew Jr., who never made any movies, and he was the uncle of John, Lionel, and Ethel Barrymore. The Barrymore siblings were told by their grandmother that he was adopted, but they felt that was not a true story, due to a great family resemblance. He started in movies around 1913, when he appeared in a number of "Jerry" comedies (about a man and his relatives), and he made a large number of movies until his passing in 1919, and once he was married, he often appeared with his wife as "Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew". After his first wife died in 1914, he quickly married again, this time to a woman less than half his age, named Lucille McVey. She quickly used her husband's connections to start producing, directing, and starring in comedy shorts, billed as "Mrs. Sidney Drew" (which the first Mrs. Drew had also been billed as). Sidney Drew passed away in 1919, and Mrs. Drew passed away six years later. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 13 pressbooks from the 1910s and 1920s that we were consigned and are auctioning in 13 separate auctions. They are surely incredibly rare, as are almost all 1920s pressbooks. We do not have the time to look up the movies, so each of these has a sparse description just listing the title and stars. If anyone reading this knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post your information on the movie description. Thanks to anyone who replies! Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut and has light stains on the covers. Learn More about condition grades
