An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Danish Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 1/2") (Learn More) La Foire aux Chimeres (released in the U.S. as "Devil and the Angel"), the 1946 Pierre Chenal French doomed relationship romantic melodrama (it has strong echoes of both "City Lights" and "La Belle et la Bete", which came out at almost the exact same time; Von Stroheim is a disfigured ugly man who meets a beautiful blind girl working at a circus, and he pays for an operation to restore her sight, and of course, she is repelled by his appearance!) starring Erich von Stroheim, Madeleine Sologne, Yves Vincent, Louis Salou, and Margo Lion. Note that this movie is largely forgotten today (it was briefly "rediscovered" in the 1980s), but by all accounts, it is a wonderful but depressing movie, and hopefully it will again be rediscovered!
