(Learn More) The Bride of Frankenstein, the classic 1935 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("The Monster Demands a Mate!"; "The monster thriller"; "Who will be The Bride of Frankenstein. Who will dare?"; the second of the Universal Frankenstein movies, and the only example I am aware of where a sequel is clearly superior to the original movie!; this is James Whale's masterpiece, and almost everyone agrees it is among the finest movies ever made, regardless of genre) starring Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Colin Clive (as Dr. Henry Frankenstein), Valerie Hobson (as the bride of Dr. Frankenstein), Elsa Lanchester (in the title role as the bride of the Frankenstein monster, and also as Mary Shelley!), Una O'Connor, Ernest Thesiger (as Dr. Pretorius), E.E. Clive, O.P. Heggie, John Carradine, Dwight Frye (as Karl), Gavin Gordon, and Neil Fitzgerald NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is perhaps the single most desirable pressbook there is! Why? Because it is incredibly rare, and it is very over-sized (13" x 25 3/4"), and the covers are entirely in full color, and the cover stands as a wonderful poster on its own, and the back cover, of course, shows posters that would cost well over a million dollars if they existed! Not only is this pressbook extremely rare, but it is also incredibly difficult to find it uncut (we have previously auctioned one with a cut cover and one with no covers at all, but never before a complete one). The inside back cover of the pressbook shows additional posters and the lobby cards, and the interior pages have a wonderful array of newspaper ads, with lots of different images and taglines, and many have likely not been seen since 1935. But this pressbook has a wonderful added "bonus"! The original herald was "tipped-in" (glued) to the inside front cover, where there was a place for it, and it is still present! That herald alone is quite rare, and auctions for a substantial amount of money by itself. Condition: good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle at one time and there are tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on that fold, and also down the left and right borders of the cover and back cover. The covers and all of the interior pages, except for the center 4 pages, are separated at the spine (and those center 4 pages have separation in the top half of the area where they are joined. There are three horizontal creases in the cover, one 3" from the bottom, one 4" from the top, and one 1" above the center fold. The herald has tiny surface paper loss in the top of the cover and two interior pages (see our images). The interior pages are mostly in pretty nice condition. One has two tears in the left border. The center 4 pages have many faint smudges scattered in the white background areas. All of the interior pages were folded across the middle along with the covers, and some have smudges in that area. But the pressbook is complete and uncut and certainly, the covers can be framed (either together or individually), and they will be much more impressive than a window card or insert from this movie (and they are likely just as rare), and yet they may well cost a fraction of the price!
