An Original Vintage Forty by Sixty Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More) the 1943 local theater double-bill release ("Double Shock & Horror Show") of Son of Dracula, the 1943 Robert Siodmak Universal vampire monster horror thriller sequel ("Red Lips Thirsting!"; "Pale Hands Caressing!"; in this sequel, the Count travels from Budapest to the Deep South of the U.S.!; this is the first Dracula movie that shows him transforming into a bat on screen) starring Louise Allbritton, Robert Paige, Evelyn Ankers, Frank Craven, J. Edward Bromberg, Samuel S. Hinds, Adeline De Walt Reynolds, Pat Moriarty, and Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as Count Dracula; he is credited on some posters as "Lon Chaney as Count Dracula", though his actual character name in this film is "Count Alucard", which of course is "Dracula" spelled backwards!) AND The Mad Ghoul, the 1943 James P. Hogan Universal science fiction (sci-fi) monster horror thriller ("A new sensation in horror!"; a wacky story of a scientist who discovers an "ancient Mayan nerve gas", and when his assistant is exposed to it, he becomes a mindless ghoul who needs to eat human hearts to stay alive) starring Turhan Bey, Evelyn Ankers, David Bruce (in the title role as The Mad Ghoul), George Zucco, Milburn Stone, Robert Armstrong, and Rose Hobart NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a special 40" by 60" poster that was created by a regional company in 1943, likely one that packaged movies as double bills, and sent these special posters to the theaters showing the double bills. The poster was created by gluing large photos of the stars to the poster and then hand painting over them, and all of the background areas, so even if another example of this poster exists, it would not be exactly the same as this, and might have very different coloring. Posters like these are incredibly rare, and there is an excellent chance that this is the only surviving example of this poster! This poster is similar to the 40x60 posters created by the Meloy Bros. in 1935 and 1936, which was a regional company that created very similar 40x60 posters on heavy boards for theaters in their area showing movies the Meloy Bros. were connected with. This poster was NOT created by Universal Studios, but by a regional company. It was made on a very heavy board stock, and will need to be sent in a very large flat package. VERY IMPORTANT! This poster will likely cost at least $100 to send within the U.S. via ground UPS (but of course, we will only charge the actual cost of shipping). Please bear this shipping cost in mind before placing a bid on this poster (and it would surely cost hundreds of dollars to send it out of the United States, so we ask that no one from outside the U.S. bid on this poster unless they can accept delivery of it within the U.S.). Condition: good to very good. The poster has some wear around the edges and there is a small piece completely separated from the bottom right corner, which we have, and will be sent together with the poster to the winning bidder. There are some smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the poster (remember it is hand painted). Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the exact condition of this poster.
