An Original 1927 (from the first release of this movie in Germany) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked German Movie Poster (measures 37" x 55 1/2" [94 x 141 cm]) (Learn More) Lykkehjulet (released in English-speaking countries as "The Wheel of Fortune"), the 1926 Urban Gad Danish silent slapstick comedy starring Carl Schenstrom (as Fyrtarnet), Harald Madsen (as Bivognen), Lili Lani, Mathilde Nielsen, and Peter Nielsen. Note that this was one of a series of comedy shorts starring Schenstrom and Madsen, who were a pair of comics from Denmark, known there as Fyrtarnet og Bivognen (Lighthouse and Sidecar), often called Fy and Bi for short. In America they were known as Ole & Axel, and in Britain they were Long & Short. Artist: Ritter Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this German poster, which is a very rare "country of origin" poster from Germany from before World War II. There are very few German movie posters from before World War II in existence (because of the massive paper shortages in Germany during World War II), and most of those few are in museums. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had paper loss at most crossfolds, with tears, paper loss, and darkening on the folds and darkening, tears, pinholes, and paper loss around the edges. It had some tears and stains in non-fold areas. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
