An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) When Worlds Collide, the classic 1951 Rudolph Mate science fiction (sci-fi) doomsday fantasy thriller ("Spectacle never before filmed!"; "Most amazing story that science or fiction ever imagined!"; "Planets Destroy Earth!"; "Giant planet collides with earth!"; "Enormous earthquakes swallow whole continents!"; "Tidal waves flood entire countries!"; "Space ship leaves earth!"; "Based on the famous novel by Edwin Balmer and Philip Wylie"; produced by George Pal, who did the excellent special effects; a highly literate screenplay by Sydney Boehm; this is the sort of movie that proved that science fiction movies did not have to be silly to be critically acclaimed or popular with the public; it is a pity more movies did not follow this wonderful movie's formula!) starring Barbara Rush, Richard Derr, Peter Hanson, John Hoyt, Larry Keating, Frank Cady, and Stephen Chase NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had 2" trimmed from the top, with some more trimmed in the top left corner, but only the top blank border and the dark background area were affected. It had paper loss near the center of the "R" of "WORLDS" and some small paper loss in the "HE" of "WHEN". It had some small tears scattered down the vertical fold, with paper loss at the bottom crossfold. It had tears above the right 9" of the bottom two horizontal folds. It had some tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. A really talented restorer expertly repaired the poster, and it now displays quite well. It has had replacement of the top 2", but it really is not very noticeable at all, even when looking close up. The poster will display well on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
