An Original Vintage Linenbacked One-Sheet Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Pepper Pot Novelty, the 1931 stock poster ("Novelties, Music, Girls"; "A Vitaphone short subject") for Warner Brothers/Vitaphone musical song-and-dance short subjects. Warner Bros. made a great stock one-sheet for this series in the early 1930s (likely in 1931; the poster is undated, but it has a litho number, and comparing this number to our massive database of litho numbers taken from actual movie posters, we can determine that this poster is almost certainly from 1931), and this poster has a nearly naked showgirl wearing a tiny costume! In 1935 they made a second stock one-sheet that says "A New Pepper Pot Novelty", and that one also has an image of a sexy woman, just not as exposed as the one on this poster (surely because of the Production Code, which was introduced in the interim)! If anyone knows more about this series or this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned five examples of this one-sheet, but only one in the last 18 years!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds, and some small paper loss in the blank border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
