An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Man From Hell's River, the 1922 Irving Cummings silent Yukon German Shepherd canine dog melodrama (based on the story 'God of Her People' by James Oliver Curwood) starring Irving Cummings (billed as "Written by and Starring Irving Cummings"), Eva Novak, Wallace Beery, Frank Whitson, and Rin Tin Tin (most famous of the movie dog stars, he was Warner Bros.' #1 star in their early lean years and the earnings from his movies kept the studio in the black!). Note that this was Rin-Tin-Tin's very first movie, and he was billed as "Rin-Tin", because I guess his name hadn't become Rin-Tin-Tin yet! Note that poster material from this first Rin Tin Tin movie is incredibly scarce. We have only auctioned lobby cards. There are ones that have "Written by and Starring Irving Cummings" at bottom center, and others that look very similar, but that area now says "With Rin-Tin The Great Dog Hero", and we think that those cards are very early re-releases, after Rin Tin Tin became a giant star off of this movie. But they would surely be extremely early re-releases (perhaps even part of a continuous first release), because his name is still "Rin-Tin" and not Rin Tin Tin, which he became two movies later, after he made "My Dad" as "Rin-Tin", and then became Rin Tin Tin in "Where the North Begins" in 1923. So the cards with billing for Rin-Tin at the bottom are almost surely from 1922 or 1923, but not the very first release cards, which don't have that credit. We hope to eventually auction posters from this movie, which would surely shed additional light on this. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only seen one other scene card Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
