The theme of the fair was split into different zones: Transportation, Communications and Business, Food, and the Government Zone. There was also the Billy Rose Aquacade, a musical and water show that starred Johnny Weissmuller and Eleanor Holm. Of special note in the World's Fair was the "Trylon and Perisphere", which were two giant structures side by side, connected by an escalator. The Perisphere contained a diorama showing "The World of Tomorrow". These two structures became the symbol of the World's Fair, and the image of the two structures (in blue and orange) were put on licensed products advertising the World's Fair (it was one of the most licensed events ever, with over 25,000 different products created, from teaspoons to tables, and everything imaginable!). If you want to learn more about this World's Fair (one of the greatest ever held), go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1939_New_York_World%27s_Fair! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this auction is for BOTH the the 1939 program AND the 1940 program for Billy Rose's Aquacade at the New York World's Fair that was held those two years. The Aquacade was one of the many great exhibits at this legendary World's Fair, and in in the 1939 program, Johnny Weissmuller appeared and has two full-length images inside, and in the 1940 program, Buster Crabbe took Johnny Weissmuller's place, and he has a great full-page image! Note: We have 12 images of the souvenir program books in this lot, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 12 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 2. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
