An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Blood Will Tell, the 1927 Ray Flynn silent cowboy western ("A thrilling romance of laws and outlaws"; "Story by Adele Buffington"; produced by William Fox) starring Buck Jones, Silver, Katherine Perry (billed as "Kathryn Perry"), Lawford Davidson, Bob Kortman, Harry Gripp, Austen Jewell, "and a cast of favorites". Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were. This is one of the few times Silver was billed on the posters! Also note that Austen Jewell was a juvenile actor who had a prominent role in this movie (he is not billed, but he is pictured on many of the lobby cards). He acted in a total of 12 movies between 1924 and 1931, and then retired when he was 15. He resurfaced after World War II in 1948 when he was 33 as an assistant director and later a production manager, and he had a distinguished career until 1989, when he retired, and he passed away in 1998 at the age of 82. He had the interesting distinction of having worked on a large number of great movies over many decades in different capacities, including Greed, City Lights, The Cincinnati Kid, Superman, and Star Trek II! Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. There is slight smudging on the glass (it is not very distracting, and it could likely be cleaned). The cardboard holder has staining around the staples. Otherwise, the slide is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
