An Original Autographed Cancelled Check (measures 2 3/4" x 6") (Learn More) Marilyn Monroe is one of the greatest larger-than-life movie stars ever of the 1950s, and surely the greatest sex symbol of all time! She appeared in several memorable movies including: Some Like It Hot, The Prince & the Showgirl, All About Eve, The Asphalt Jungle, The Misfits, The Seven Year Itch, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Monkey Business, and Niagara. The last film that she worked on was Something's Got To Give in 1962. 20th Century Fox blamed Marilyn for the production being behind schedule, and fired her in June (the film was never completed). In August, she was found dead in her home from an apparent drug overdose, and her death was ruled a suicide (though there are theories that foul play was involved, and even in 2024, many people do not feel it was an "accidental" death). Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Marilyn Monroe! Note that this check was completely filled out by hand by Marilyn Monroe. Her handwriting was much neater early in her career, and of course, she had recently changed her name from Norma Jean Baker to Marilyn Monroe, so this is one of the earlier Monroe signed checks! IMPORTANT: We held an "all signed" auction on August 22nd, 2010, and this check was in that auction. As the auction closed there were three bidders in a fierce bidding war, and in the heat of the moment, one of the bidders entered an extra zero on his bid, and the auction ended minutes later, with him as the high bidder at $5,750. Had he not entered that mistaken bid, the check would likely have sold for $4,300, but there is no telling what might have occurred in those final minutes had the mistaken bid not been entered. But because of the error in bidding, and to be fair to those three bidders (and any new bidders this time), we are re-auctioning the check, again starting at $1, and it will sell to the highest bidder, no matter what the price (but if you are bidding on this check, please be certain to carefully check the amount of your bid BEFORE you place the bid!).
