An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Dr. Kildare's Victory (released internationally as "The Doctor and the Debutante"), the 1941 W.S. Van Dyke (billed as "Major W.S. Van Dyke II") hospital medical doctor melodrama sequel ("Thriller #9 The Case of the Glamorous Debutante"; "Screen play by Harry Ruskin and Willis Goldbeck"; one of the very popular series of movies featuring this character and his crusty old mentor, Dr. Gillespie) starring Lew Ayres (in the title role as Doctor Kildare), Lionel Barrymore (as Doctor Gillespie), Ann Ayars (as the debutante Cynthia 'Cookie' Charles), Robert Sterling, Jean Rogers, Alma Kruger, Kirby Grant, and Nell Craig. Note that this was the last of the 'Dr. Kildare' movies starring Lew Ayres. Ayres had declared himself a conscientious objector to World War II (WWII), he was blacklisted in Hollywood. He went on to change his status to 'non-combatant', serving as a medic in the South Pacific, as well as a chaplain's aid in New Guinea and the Philippines. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: good. A small amount was trimmed from the edges of the poster and there are some smudges and creases scattered throughout. Learn More about condition grades
