An Original 1947 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Folded French "Affiche" Movie Poster (23x32; measures 22 3/4" x 30 3/4" [58 x 78 cm]) (Learn More) Cover Girl, the 1944 Charles Vidor romantic modeling musical comedy ("The most brilliant musical of our time!"; "Too thrilling for words... So they set it to music, romance, dance and song!"; "A new joy, a new delight in musical entertainment!"; "An exciting motion picture experience you'll remember for years"; "Music by Jerome Kern"; "Lyrics by Ira Gershwin"; about a young lady who works in a nightclub with her boyfriend and a comic, but then she wins a contest and becomes a famous cover girl, which jeopardizes her romance) starring Rita Hayworth ("Radiant Rita Hayworth - ravishing, audacious, lovely, in the brilliant, exciting musical you've read about."), Gene Kelly, Lee Bowman, Phil Silvers, Jinx Falkenburg (as herself), Jess Barker, Leslie Brooks, Otto Kruger, Eve Arden, and "The Cover Girls, 15 of America's Most Beautiful Women" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Guy Gerard Noel Important Added Info: Note that this is a VERY rare French "Affiche" poster for this movie! We have only auctioned one in all of our years of auctioning and that very same poster has been reconsigned to us for this auction. Note also that movie paper for this film from France is very rare, this is the ONLY French item we have ever auctioned for the title. Note finally that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has several tack holes around the edges (some are torn or enlarged due to rough removal) and there is some paper loss at lower right (see our image). There is a sticker on back that slightly bleeds through to the front at upper right in the art of Hayworth's hand and there is small separation and paper loss in the upper crossfold. Most of the defects affect background paper and the poster would certainly look wonderful after a relatively simple linenbacking, although I imagine many collectors would be happy with this poster as it is.
