An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" [10 x 14 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More)

Boys Town, the classic 1938 Norman Taurog (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) wonderful-priest-saves-orphan-boys-in-the-Depression-by-creating-the-ultimate-orphanage-for-them family juvenile teen melodrama ("The life story of a boy who was 'Born To Be Hung'!"; "'No boy is bad, if given a chance!'"; "M-G-M's thrilling drama"; "The Greatest Heart Drama of the year!"; "You'll see it with your heart in your eyes! Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's great drama!"; "Screen Play by John Meehan and Dore Schary"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; a true story, with only slight embellishment, of the great work done by the real-life Father Flanagan; the actual Boys Town was not much different than the one depicted in the movie, but interestingly, due to the overwhelming success of this movie, the real Boys Town has received so many charitable donations over the years that it is a very wealthy institution!) starring Spencer Tracy (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film, as Father Flanagan), Mickey Rooney, Henry Hull, Leslie Fenton, Gene Reynolds, Edward Norris, Bobs Watson, and Bohunk (the dog, as himself!)

Important Added Info: Note that this is one of the coolest special heralds ever! It is a stiff card with an artwork image of a newsboy holding up a sign, and "under his arm" (created by two slits in the paper) is a folded up 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" sheet giving information about the movie currently playing (see our images). What makes this so cool is that people had to actually assemble these by hand, one at a time, and most theaters probably used many hundreds, if not thousands of them!

Condition: very good.
