An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

I Take This Woman, the 1940 W.S. Van Dyke (billed as "W.S. Van Dyke II") romantic marriage melodrama ("Man of the hour! Woman of flame!"; "Original story by Charles MacArthur"; about a doctor who helps poor people, who marries a beautiful woman who wants him to be rich, so he abandons the poor and starts treating rich people) starring Spencer Tracy, Hedy Lamarr, Verree Teasdale, Kent Taylor, Laraine Day, Marjorie Main, Willie Best, Louis Calhern, and Dalies Frantz. Note that this was a very troubled production. Josef von Sternberg was the original director and quit, and was replaced by Frank Borzage, but then the entire movie was shelved for 10 months. At that point, W.S. Van Dyke was hired, and he pretty much re-shot the entire movie, even though a lot of it had already been shot, and he also re-cast several of the lead roles (for example, Jack Carson is credited, but he only has one line that remained in the movie, and that one was dubbed, because he was not available to re-take it when the movie was being edited)!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this window card, and that was 12 years ago. Also note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible).

Note that because this card has really major defects, we also pictured the back.

Condition: fair. The card has staining scattered throughout, with nail holes around the edges and some in the center of the image, with two partial vertical folds down the center.
