Date Sold 2/20/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) The Jazz Age, the 1929 Lynn Shores Roaring Twenties romantic comedy ("Season's wild-fire hit - glorious 'IT'!"; "Silent or dialogue a hit!" about the son of the owner of a streetcar company who is romancing the daughter of the owner of another company, and they get in a wreck, and the girl's father tries to blackmail the other owner, but the son confesses and the girl agrees to marry him) starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Marceline Day, Henry B. Walthall, Myrtle Stedman, Gertrude Messinger, and Joel McCrea (in his second credited role!). Note that the producers of the movie tried to remind moviegoers of Clara Bow's huge 1927 hit, "It", by using it in their tagline, but of course, by 1929, saying a girl had "it" had become part of the language! Also note that this movie was released in both a silent and a sound version, which is why they added a tagline to the window card that says "Silent or dialogue a hit!" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1929 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single poster or lobby card from this movie (only a glass slide) until we received this window card! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair. The card was found in the back of a frame where it had been used as a backing board for a picture (many framers in the 1920s and 1930s would use window cards for this purpose, and they would trim them to the size of the frame, not caring that they were cutting into the image!). In this case, the trimming, which was to 12" x 16", affects the left and top of the card, and you can see what is missing by looking at our image. Since almost all of the title and virtually all of the image remains, I would think many people could display this card as is, but please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored. In addition to being trimmed, it has stains, tears, and creases around the edges, with some staining scattered in the image. Learn More about condition grades
