An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 43 1/2" x 59 1/4" [110 x 150 cm]) (Learn More) L'enfant de Paris (literally translates to "The Child of Paris"), the 1913 (finally released in the U.S. in 1977) Leonce Perret French silent kidnapping crime melodrama (about the young daughter of a soldier from a wealthy family, who is missing in action, and after her mother dies, she is put in a fancy boarding school, but she is mistreated and she runs away, and she is sold into slavery to a French criminal, who also mistreats her, but there is a hunchback teenager who works for the criminal, and he tries to help the girl, and later, the father turns out to be alive, and he tries to find his daughter, only to be kidnapped as well by the same criminal, and then he escapes, and the hunchback goes out to find the daughter so she can be reunited with her father) starring Leonce Perret, Louis Leubas, Maurice Lagrenee, Emile Keppens, and Suzanne Privat (in the title role as Marie-Laure). Note that this was VERY unusual in that it was a feature length 2 hour movie, at a time when the vast majority of movies in all countries were shorts, and it predates The Birth of a Nation by two years! It is mostly only known today by film buffs, but it is a very important movie in film history, and deserves to be rediscovered (and the film still exists!). If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie, which we have only auctioned once before! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Condition: fair to good.
