Date Sold 1/18/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Set of 8 2021 "Faux" Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]; see below) (Learn More) Little Caesar, the classic 1930 Mervyn LeRoy gangster mob organized crime thriller ("The power-mad monarch of the murder mobs!"; based on the novel by W.R. Burnett, and loosely based on the rise and fall of Al Capone; at the end of the movie, Edward G. Robinson says that classic line "Mother of mercy, is this the end of Rico?") starring Edward G. Robinson (in the title role as Caesar Enrico 'Rico' Bandello), Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Glenda Farrell, William Collier Jr., Sidney Blackmer, Ralph Ince, and Stanley Fields AND Key Largo, the 1948 John Huston crime film noir ("Killer against killer, gun to gun, on the hot spot of the Florida Keys!"; "A cast as explosive as its story!"; "You'll see the performances of your life in the hit of their lives!"; set in the Florida Keys during a hurricane!; based on the hit play by Maxwell Anderson) starring Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Lauren Bacall, Lionel Barrymore, Claire Trevor (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Thomas Gomez, John Rodney, Dan Seymour, Harry Lewis, and Marc Lawrence. Note that this was the final movie in which Humphrey Bogart co-starred with Lauren Bacall. They first met during the filming of "To Have and Have Not" in 1944, and then were married in 1945. They re-teamed for "The Big Sleep" in 1946, and then made "Dark Passage" the following year. They teamed again in for this movie in 1948, but they did not make another movie together, likely having a lot to do with their having two children. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 68 "faux" lobby card sets we were consigned, which we are auctioning in 68 separate auctions! They were created in 2021 by a long time collector who (like so many of us) chose to stay home this year a lot due to Covid, and he made these to help pass the time! He was inspired by the "Fantasy #9 lobby cards created several decades ago, each of which is from a classic horror/sci-fi movie, showing a great scene that wasn't in the original set! Similarly, our consignor created these 68 sets, using top images from each film! He did not make these through a computer program, but instead pasted together actual prints to create mock-ups. On most of these he make 8 card sets, but on a number of them he created sets with 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13! He then printed just THREE of each set, and he won't be reprinting them. He numbered the first card in each set, and what we are offering here is the "1 of 3" of this set, which means there are only two other sets, and there will never be more. Our consignor will permanently keep one of the three of each, but MAY give us the remaining set at a later time to auction. But the winner of this auction will have one of just three of these numbered sets that were created! Condition: fine. These faux lobby cards are in excellent condition!
