Important Added Info: Note that only the single top word in red across the monster's forehead, and the symbol directly below the last letter of that word were actually printed on the poster. The three letters below the top word and the two large red characters at right center, as well as the two large black text blocks at bottom, and the Universal logo, were all printed on separate pieces of paper and carefully glued in place! I have no idea why this was done, but it seems certain that it was done at the time the poster was created or shortly thereafter, and by the studio. Perhaps an expert on Japanese posters could tell us more about this (and if they have ever seen any other Japanese Universal horror posters from right after World War II; this is the only one I have ever seen and it has a wonderful image). One could have a restorer remove the pasted over images, but it seems to me that they are clearly part of the poster, and should be left on (but of course, that will be the new owner's choice)! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. There was a semi-circular area of paper loss in the upper right border measuring approximately 2" x 3/4", and a smaller triangular shaped area of paper loss 2" above that. Someone taped a piece of white paper to the back of the poster over those areas and then colored in the paper to try to match the original, and they did a fairly good job. It appears there was a 2" x 2" triangular area of paper loss at the bottom center of the poster, and that it was repaired in a similar way, but it is difficult to tell exactly what occurred, because the area is beneath the black snipes and it really does not show. Other than the above, the poster is in pretty good condition!
