Important Added Info: Note that this is a really wonderful and no doubt incredibly rare 16 2/3 RPM vinyl record created when this movie was first released in 1933. It is single-sided, typical of promotional records that were sent to radio stations. We don't have a way to play it, but it has "KING KONG JUNGLE NOISES" stamped on the label, along with "SEE INSTRUCTIONS ON ENVELOPE". Printed on the label (not stamped) is information about RKO and the "RCA Photophone System". Etched into the record itself is "COPYRIGHT 1933" and "RKO 74548-1 KING KONG PUBLICITY RECORD". The record is in its original blank paper sleeve, but the original envelope is no longer present. We would have to think that very few, if any, of this record survives.
UPDATED 12/12/2016: Note that a vinyl record expert tell us that this record is almost surely 16 2/3 RPM as records intended for use by radio stations at the time were only this way. Also, he mentions that "if you examine the needle track on this King Kong, it is recorded to play from the inside to out, opposite of what we are used to for commercial records in general, and this is typical of special radio and other publicity use records." Please keep this in mind as it is almost certain that a special turntable will be required to play this record. Condition: very good. We have no way to play the record, but it appears to be in nice condition (see our images). The paper sleeve has darkening around the edges and some tiny paper loss at the opening area, but it is blank. Learn More about condition grades
