An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Case of the Lucky Legs, the 1935 Archie Mayo Perry Mason courtroom legal lawyer crime mystery thriller (based on the Perry Mason series of books "by Erle Stanley Gardner"; about a con man who stages phony beauty contests, and then leaves town with the prize money, but he is found dead, and there is no end of suspects, which makes the case especially difficult for Perry Mason) starring Warren William (as Perry Mason), Genevieve Tobin (as Della Street), Patricia Ellis, Lyle Talbot, Allen Jenkins, Barton MacLane, Peggy Shannon, Joseph Crehan, and Craig Reynolds. Note that Warner Bros. purchased the rights to these characters in 1934, and the first movie in the series was "The Case of the Howling Dog" starring Warren William. That movie was very faithful to Erle Stanley Gardner's book. However, in this movie, William plays Perry Mason as a hard drinking, often drunk, fellow, who likes to romance the ladies, and perhaps this was caused by the great success of MGM's "The Thin Man"! William played Mason in a total of four movies, and then Ricardo Cortez took over in 1936 for "The Case of the Black Cat". "The Case of the Stuttering Bishop", made the following year, was the sixth and final of the series, with Donald Woods in the lead role, and after that, the next Perry Mason on screen would be Raymond Burr in the classic 1960s TV series!
