A Folded German WWI Poster (measures 18 3/4" x 25" [48 x 64 cm]) (Learn More)

An Das Deutsche Volk (literally translates to "To the People of Germany"), the 1918 German World War I (WWI) poster created by the transitional government. Near the end of 1918, both German political and military leaders were forced to admit that the war was lost. Massive political changes swept through the country and on November 18th (a week after Germany had formally surrendered), a transitional government body printed this preliminary "Appeal to the German People" manifesto. It announced that censorship would be completely abolished, that future elections were to be free and conducted by secret ballot with equal suffrage for men and women, there were guarantees for both freedom of expression and freedom of the press, and proposed an eight-hour workday.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The poster has slight discoloration scattered in some areas from exposure to moisture and some tears and paper loss around the edges. The historical poster would certainly benefit from being linenbacked and preserved after which is would look great.
