A Linenbacked Italian Advertising Poster (measures 40" x 55" [102 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) Mosquito, the 1954 Italian advertising poster (with taglines that translates to "My favorites" and "The engine for every bicycle") promoting the purchase of a Moto Garelli Mosquito motor. This poster features Mosca artwork of a sexy woman, her dog and a Mosquito motor. Note that after World War II (WWII), Garelli concentrated on producing smaller bikes and mopeds for the growing middle class. One of their bestsellers was the Garelli Mosquito motor, which could be ordered as a kit which was then fitted to mopeds or even bicycles. Artist: F. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some smudges and scuffs in the white background areas and some fairly minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
