Aubrey Smith (as Lord Capulet), Andy Devine, Ralph Forbes (as Paris), Reginald Denny (as Benvolio), and Violet Kember Cooper (as Lady Capulet). Note that one complaint of this film adaptation was that Shearer and Howard were far too old for the characters they played. Howard was 43 years old, and Shearer was 34, whereas Romeo was around 16, and Juliet 13! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this one-sheet, and that was 27 years ago, when it sold for $1,540! Not only that, but any first release posters from this movie are extremely rare! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss at each crossfold and it had tears and tiny areas of paper loss scattered down the vertical fold. It had an extra horizontal fold just below the regular bottom one, with some minor wear on the horizontal folds to the left and right of the vertical fold. It had some tears and paper loss in the blank borders and the top and bottom 1/2" of the poster was folded back at one time. Someone had once put tape on the back of some of the border and fold tears. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
