A 1958 Re-Release Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29" x 43 1/4" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Rope (released outside the U.S. as "The Rope"), the classic 1948 Alfred Hitchcock New York City crime murder thriller ("Nothing ever held you like Alfred Hitchcock's ROPE"; "It begins with a shriek, It ends with a shot! From beginning to end nothing ever held you like Alfred Hitchcock's Rope"; "Screen play by Arthur Laurents"; "From the play by Patrick Hamilton"; loosely based on the Leopold/Loeb child murder trial; this movie had a gimmick in that the entire movie took place in what appears to be one extremely long "take"; to me, it just made it seem like watching a stage play, and took away what differentiates a movie from a stage play!) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart), John Dall, Farley Granger, Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"), Constance Collier, Joan Chandler, (in her second movie role; one of only three movies she did in her entire career!) Douglas Dick, Dick Hogan, and Edith Evanson. Note that this was Hitchcock's first color film. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, in 1958, MGM acquired the distribution rights for this Alfred Hitchcock classic from Warner Bros. (I am not certain if it included distribution rights within the U.S., or only outside the U.S.). They printed really cool all new posters and a title card that have a giant image of Alfred Hitchcock looming above Jimmy Stewart (and they also used the image for the Argentinean, English, and Belgian release). The U.S. posters were "Litho in U.S.A.", but are undated, and some dealers have mistakenly sold these posters as original release international posters, but they are definitely from the 1958 MGM re-release. In the 1960s, Universal acquired the rights to this movie, and they re-released it in 1964 and 1965. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
