Date Sold 8/21/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Der Fuehrer's Face, the 1943 Jack Kinney Walt Disney World War II (WWII) animated animation family comedy cartoon (about Donald Duck as a worker in a Nazi bomb factory who has to salute Adolf Hitler in a swastika-filled 1984-like world, but it turns out to all be a dream and he realizes how happy he is to be an American citizen!; winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film) featuring the voice of Clarence Nash (as Donald Duck). Note that this short was originally titled "Donald Duck in Nutzi Land" (which is on some early promotional material), but the title was changed after the song called "Der Fuehrer's Face", which was written for the short by Oliver Wallace, was released by Spike Jones and His City Slickers in September of 1942. The song became a huge hit, and the title of the short was changed right before it was released to theaters on January 1st of 1943. Some promotional material even feature the tagline "The picture from which the song sensation was taken!". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we were previously consigned an amazing collection of seven stills from this Disney short, and we auctioned them in May of this year, and they sold for between $411 and $80! Now we have been consigned two more, and that is ALL of the stills from this movie we have, so unless we are consigned more in the future, this is your final chance to purchase one of these great stills (and the final two we have are two of the best ones, both with Donald and a framed portrait of Hitler! Also note that this special auction contains many great animation stills. We guarantee that all of them are original to the year we say they are from. But it is a nice plus that a lot of them are "key book" stills (see below), which further guarantees their originality (and, as noted below, they are far more rare than non-key book stills from the same movie)! Note that this item is in eMoviePoster.com's special "all animation" auction! The idea for this auction began when we were consigned a remarkable collection of original 1940s Walt Disney pressbooks, mini lobby cards, and standees (and almost all of those are extremely rare ones that are hardly ever auctioned, and they almost all are in really nice condition). Once we knew we had those items, we contacted all our past consignors, and asked them to consign to this very special auction, and they REALLY came through, consigning a wonderful assortment of cartoon movie paper of all sorts. Buying from this special auction gives you an incredibly rare opportunity to obtain some of the finest cartoon animation movie paper we have ever seen, and all of them will have new owners when these auctions close, because all start at $1 with no reserve. Many of these items will likely not be auctioned again for many years to come! Also note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still. Condition: very good to fine. The left 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in really nice condition!
