The Cohens and the Kellys in Africa, the 1930 Vin Moore Jewish/Irish family relationship jungle safari adventure comedy ("Story by Vin Moore & Edward Luddy"; this was one of the many successful "Jewish/Irish" movies that started in the 1910s; the first in this series was made in 1926, and there were six sequels to that movie, including this one; the series centered around a baby girl who is left on a doorstep and adopted by an Irish cop and a Jewish pawnbroker, and is raised in both faiths; when she grows up, she must choose between two very different men, with the help of her "fathers"; in this entry, they had the lead families go to Africa, to try to liven things up, but apparently Universal spent very little money on making Africa realistic, and this is far from one of the best in the series!) starring George Sidney (in the title role as Cohen), Charlie Murray (in the title role as Kelly), Vera Gordon, Kate Price, and Lloyd Whitlock. Note that while George Sidney played the same role in all the entries in this series, in 1929, Mack Swain took over the part of Mr. Kelly from Charles Murray, but in all the earlier entries of the series, it was Charles Murray who played that part.
