An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 15" x 40" [38 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Great McGinty, the classic 1940 Preston Sturges political crooked politics screwball comedy starring Brian Donlevy (in the title role as Dan McGinty), Muriel Angelus, Akim Tamiroff, Allyn Joslyn, and William Demarest. Note that this movie was originally intended to be released in the U.S. with the title "Down Went McGinty", but at the last minute was changed to "The Great McGinty" (it was SO "last minute" that U.S. one-sheet posters were actually printed with "Down Went McGinty" on them, and giant snipes were glued over that area)! Artist: Richardson Studio Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this Australian daybill, and the buyer of the last example has now reconsigned that poster to us, so it is still only one of two examples of this poster we have ever auctioned! The Australian daybill poster offered here (obviously also printed before the title change) also has the original title! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is a rating (likely overprinted) in the top left. The poster has some tears around the edges and some water stains in the left of the bottom border, and a few stains in the center of the bottom red background area.
