eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 6b331 PRIVATE SECRETARY TC '35 great images of wacky Reverend Edward Everett Horton! Date Sold 11/8/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Private Secretary, the 1935 Henry Edwards English mistaken identity screwball comedy (about a timid clergyman who is duped into helping a playboy avoid his creditors and gain his inheritance) starring Edward Everett Horton (in the title role as the secretary), Barry McKay, Judy Gunn, Oscar Asche, and Sydney Fairbrother. Note that Edward Everett Horton had been a lead comedy star in the 1920s and had drifted into character roles in the 1930s. Right before this movie, he had appeared in "Top Hat" with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It seems odd that he had the starring role in this English movie, and those who have seen the movie say that it looks like his part might have been "spliced in", perhaps to help the movie gain a wider audience. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good to fine. There are minor creases in the right blank border, but the card is otherwise in nice condition! Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
