Date Sold 10/24/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Testing Block, the 1920 Lambert Hillyer silent romantic love triangle gambling cowboy western (about an outlaw who falls in love with a beautiful female violinist, which causes him to go straight and have a child, but she falls for a gambler passing through, and he not only steals Hart's wife, but he also bankrupts him while gambling!; Hart goes crazy and gets vengeance, and returns a sadder, but wiser man; the movie was both written and produced by star William S. Hart) starring William S. Hart, Eva Novak, J. Gordon Russell, Florence Carpenter, and Richard Headrick NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Not only that, but inserts from ANY William S. Hart movie are incredibly rare (we don't know why that should be, because, while one-sheets from this movies are rare, they do turn up for most of the movies, but never inserts!). This is the only insert from any William S. Hart movie we have ever auctioned! Note also that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts).
UPDATED 10/20/2019: Note that in addition to the other rare aspects of this poster (please see above), it is also the earliest insert that we have ever auctioned! Condition: good to very good. The poster has uneven darkening, both around the edges and also across the upper part of the lower two images. It has some minor border wear. Other than these relatively minor defects, the poster is in pretty nice condition, especially because it is not fragile, very unusual with a nearly century old movie poster!
