Star Trek is an American science fiction (sci-fi) entertainment franchise created by Gene Roddenberry in 1966, with the first Star Trek TV show. Oddly, the first pilot for it was not "picked up" by the network, but that was likely a lucky break, because star Jeffrey Hunter was then replaced with William Shatner, and the rest, as they say, is history! The franchise has spawned over a dozen theatrical films! It also includes TV shows such as The Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine and many more. There have also been hundreds of books, comics, and games.
