(literally translates to "Alsatians and Lorrainers Are French!"), the 1918 French World War I (WWI) Home Front poster referencing the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871) in which Germany was victorious and France was forced to cede Alsace and northern Lorraine. Once World War I broke out, recovery of the two lost provinces became the top French war goal. The Treaty of Versailles in 1919 forced Germany to cede Alsace and Lorraine back to France. Note that this poster features Lucien Jonas art of a shackled woman wearing traditional Alsatian clothing. Artist: Lucien Jonas Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster.
