An Original Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Shopworn Angel, the 1928 Richard Wallace World War I (WWI) New York City romantic love triangle melodrama ("From the story by Dana Burnet"; based on the play "Private Pettigrew's Girl"; about a lonely World War I soldier on leave in New York City and a beautiful showgirl agrees to pretend to be his date to impress his friends, but then a real romance begins) starring Nancy Carroll, Gary Cooper (in an important early role!), Paul Lukas, Roscoe Karns, Memmett King, and Mildred Washington. Even though Gary Cooper was clearly a star at this time, he was still billed after Nancy Carroll, because he was not yet a superstar, and she was! Note that this play was first made into a movie in 1919 almost under its original title, as "Pettigrew's Girl". It was remade in 1938 with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan in "Shopworn Angel".

Important Added Info: Note that this is a two-color lobby card for this movie. There were full-color cards that are surely from the first release. We believe that this is an early re-release, from the late 1920s or early 1930s. We have seen other Paramount cards like this and in some of those, one of the stars' billing increased to reflect their greater fame, which guarantees they are re-releases. In this case, Nancy Carroll and Gary Cooper were the stars of the movie in 1928, so their top billing on this card does not prove anything, but since all the other cards like this have been re-releases, we think it is a certainty that this one is as well. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good to fine. Note that this lobby card is in excellent condition and is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
