(Learn More) Cobra Woman, the 1944 Robert Siodmak reptile snake serpent jungle fantasy adventure thriller ("Spectacular Cast of Thousands!"; "Original Story, W. Scott Darling"; "Screen Play, Gene Lewis and Richard Brooks") starring Maria Montez (in the title role as Tollea/Naja/the Cobra Woman), Jon Hall, Sabu Dastagir (billed as "Sabu"), Edgar Barrier, Lois Collier, Mary Nash, Samuel S. Hinds, and Lon Chaney Jr. ("as Hava"). Note that the screenplay was co-written by Richard Brooks. This was the second screenplay he worked on. Of course, decades later, he would become one of Hollywood's foremost screenwriters, also directing many of his movies! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a extremely rare pressbook for this movie! We have only auctioned one other example in all of our years of auctioning and that was in 2004. Note also that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. This extremely large pressbook (which measures over a window card size) was folded across the middle and there is wear along that fold on the cover. The covers are separated at the spine. There are some smudges and tiny stains scattered on the cover. There is a four page supplment that measures the same as the pressbook and the supplement is folded across the middle and there amateur restoration two cuts in the supplement (but the pressbook is uncut).
