An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English Double Crown Movie Poster (DC; measures 20" x 30") (Learn More) Ethel Clayton was an actress from the 1910s to the 1940s. Some of her movies include: Secrets, Lightnin', and Mother Machree. Note that Ethel Clayton was the stage name taken by Alice Spade from Bayside, NY because it was considered uncouth to be an actress in film during the silent era! She passed away in 1966 at the age of 83. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Paramount for use by English theaters showing their 1910s or 1920s Ethel Clayton movies (such stock posters were only created for the studio's foremost stars). Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank area at center. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they were sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Condition: poor to fair. There are smudges throughout the poster. There is much separation along the foldlines with some small paper loss at the crossfold and around the edges of the poster.
