Date Sold 2/23/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Catalog (measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/4" [14 x 21 cm]; 260 pages) (Learn More) Catalogue of Stereopticons and Magic Lanterns, the 1900 T.H. McAllister ("Manufacturing Optician") catalogue ("Dissolving view apparatus"; "With extensive list of views for the illustration of all subjects of popular interest") featuring information and illustrations of the devices and media available. A stereopticon is a slide projector which has two lenses, usually one above the other, and was mainly used to project photographic images. These devices date back to the mid 19th century, and were a popular form of entertainment and education before the advent of moving pictures. However, this catalog has ads for "the optigraph attachment for showing moving pictures", which allowed you to convert a stereopticon into a primitive motion picture projector, and it also has ads for the Edison Stereo-Projecting Kinetoscope, which is surely one of the very first motion picture projectors ever, and dates from the very birth of moving pictures! Surely very few examples of this catalog exist, and it deserves to be in a museum! Condition: good to very good. The back cover is completely separated and the front cover is mostly separated. A small part of the spine is missing. The interior pages are generally in nice condition (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
