That's the only way to describe it! And We Bet You'll Laugh Till You're Xhausted!"; "A Comedy in Technicolor"; "'Who was the Lady in room 315?' Mayfair boiled with gossip... as the frantic young woman-hater combed the town to find the nameless beauty who had stolen his pajamas and his bed."; "'Where were you on the night of January 22nd?'"; "And what kind of a hussy was she... stealing a stranger's book and his pajamas and his bed and not even leaving her name."; "Thanks for the use of your bed--"; produced by Alexander Korda; about a divorce lawyer who, due to a shortage of hotel rooms, shares his suite with a beautiful lady, and then believes her to be married, but he chases after her because he mistakenly believes she is the soon-to-be ex-wife of his newest client) starring Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier, Binnie Barnes, Ralph Richardson, Morton Selten, and H.B. We auctioned a different example of it ten years ago, but that one was in really lesser condition, and otherwise, this is the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had some light water stains scattered in several areas, including in the left of Olivier's face and in the background between him and Oberon. It had paper loss at each crossfold in the middle vertical fold and some tears and paper loss in that middle vertical fold, with a much lesser amount of tiny tears and tiny paper loss in the other folds. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. The person who had it backed likely chose to do this because the water stains described above are not all that distracting, and the areas of paper loss and tears in the middle vertical fold are also not very distracting. But certainly anyone bidding on this poster should look closely at our super-sized image and see how the poster displays, and then bid on it knowing the defects it has (and if you want to perform additional restoration, consider that cost as well).
