An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Goin' To Town, the 1935 Alexander Hall romantic bad-woman-inherts-fortune-and-tries-to-become-a-lady musical comedy ("She's found a new way of doin' 'em wrong!"; "Streamlined for Speed!"; "West goes modern in a big way as the cattle queen who tires of bad men and muscles into high society to pick herself a good one!"; "Celebrate Mae Day"; a wacky story of a dance hall queen whose fiancee dies leaving her great wealth, and she tries to make herself into a "lady") starring Mae West, Paul Cavanagh, Gilbert Emery, Ivan Lebedeff, Tito Coral, Fred Kohler, Monroe Owsley, Grant Withers, Marjorie Gateson, and Vladimar Bykoff (billed as "Wladimir Baikoff"). Note that this movie was originally titled "Now I'm a Lady", and some stills were printed with that title. It was then changed to "How Am I Doin'?", and we don't know what material was printed with that title. Finally, the title was changed to "Goin' To Town", and that was the final title for the movie. Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the left 1" of the card and the top 6 1/2" of the card had been trimmed off. It also had some pinholes and tears around the edges, with some stains and paper loss within the image. Overall, the window card was in fair condition prior to paperbacking. A talented restorer replaced the missing areas at the left (which mostly affected the top and bottom of the edge of West's clothes and also the top of the image (which mostly affected the top of West's hair and the very top of the "AE" of "MAE"). They did a nice job, and the card displays pretty well, but you can see signs of the restoration, so bear this in mind before bidding on this card. Learn More about condition grades
