An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #13 (Eight Steps Down) Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Batman, the 1943 Lamber Hillyer classic DC Comics comic book superhero action adventure crime fighting serial ("A hundred times more thrilling on the screen!"; "A Columbia Chapter Play"; "the great action serial thriller!"; "All the action and thrills of the comic strip multiplied a hundred-fold!"; "In the hands of his enemies! Can Batman escape?"; "Daring in action! Superhuman against odds!"; "The all-American hero in super-human thrills!"; "Red-Blooded Americans Versus the Wily Nipponese!"; "Watch Batman deal death and defiance to his enemies!"; "See Batman turn the tables on the wily Jap!"; "Based on the Batman Comic Magazine Feature appearing in Detective Comics and Batman Magazines"; note that because this serial was made during the middle of World War II, the villains in the movie are Japanese, and they are the stereotyped Japanese villains of that time) starring Lewis Wilson (in the title role as Batman), Douglas Croft (as Robin), J. Carrol Naish (who plays the Asian villain, Dr. Tito Daka!), Shirley Patterson, William Austin (as Alfred), and Charles C. Wilson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY original movie paper from the original 1943 release of this classic serial is INCREDIBLY rare! Perhaps it was partly because of the World War II paper drives going on at this time (which would also account for the shortage of original release material from the 1941 "The Adventures of Captain Marvel"). Perhaps it was more because the movie was given a major re-release in 1954, and it is very common that movies that are re-released soon after their first release have next-to-no original paper known (perhaps because the remaining original paper was used during that 1954 re-release). In any event, we have only sold a couple of lobby cards and a single one-sheet from the original 1943 release in all the years we have auctioned movie posters! Condition: good to very good. There are pencil marks on Batman's chin and the top of his costume. There are pinholes, creases, smudges, and some dot stains around the edges of the card. There is a tape stain in the center of the top border and surface paper loss in part of it where the tape was roughly removed. Learn More about condition grades
