An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Make Way for Tomorrow, the classic 1937 Leo McCarey family relationship Great Depression melodrama ("A human drama of real love!"; "They want to live their own lives...! Can you blame them?"; "The world had passed them by!"; about an elderly couple in the Depression who through no fault of their own lose their pension, and they turn to their adult children to help them out, but the children are too busy with their lives to do much to help their parents) starring Victor Moore, Beulah Bondi, Fay Bainter, Thomas Mitchell, Porter Hall, Barbara Read, Louise Beavers, and Elisabeth Risdon. This is really a wonderful movie, and it seems extremely likely that the great Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu was strongly influenced by this movie. Legend has it that when director Leo McCarey was given the Best Director award for The Awful Truth, he commented "I was given it for the wrong movie", because he felt that Make Way For Tomorrow was his best work! If you have not seen this movie, and if you like "sentimental" movies, this is well worth seeing! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
