Date Sold 3/16/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Mister Antonio, the 1929 James Flood & Frank Reicher romantic politics adoption melodrama ("From a Booth Tarkington story"; "An all-talking production"; about the mayor of a small conservative town who goes to New York and gets drunk, even though he is against alcohol politically; he has a teenage "ward" who is caught drinking ginger ale at a club, and he kicks her out, and a nice Italian man takes her in and, of course, they fall in love) starring Leo Carrillo, Virginia Valli, Gareth Hughes, Frank Reicher, and Eugenie Besserer. Note that it was pretty common in movies of the 1910s to have wealthy men go to adoption agencies and adopt pretty teenage girls, and then when they came of age, the men would often marry them! Fortunately, this went out of favor in the 1920s, and this is one of the latest movies we have seen with this theme. Of course, no movie could be made like this nowadays! Also note that this was Leo Carrillo's first feature movie, and he was the star! That's because he had been a Broadway star in the 1920s, and he starred in the stage play version of this movie, and he was brought over to star in this film version. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this window card! Also note that because this card has significant defects, we also pictured the back, because that better helps bidders know exactly what those defects are. Condition: fair to good.
