An Autographed Concert Poster (measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) American Troubadours, the 1986 music concert poster advertising a concert to be held October 11 at the Somerville Theatre in Somerville, Massachusetts and featuring images of the American Troubadours (Townes Van Zandt, Eric Andersen, and Cormac McCarthy). This was a fascinating concert! Apparently, the idea was to highlight great performers who were little known to the general public, despite many years of excellent output. Two of the three people at this concert went on to finally break through to great public acclaim after many years of only being known to their die hard fans. Eric Andersen became a member of the supergroup Danko/Fjeld/Andersen. In 1990, they performed together for nine years. Cormac McCarthy wrote many books before finally receiving major acclaim in 1992 for his novel "All the Pretty Horses", which won the National Book Award, and his 2005 novel, "No Country For Old Men", became a best selling novel and a hit movie. Townes Van Zandt sadly never broke out of his cult status, due to his many years of substance abuse, and he died on New Year's Day 1997 (although ironically, he has become more famous after his passing). If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by ALL THREE performers at this concert: Townes Van Zandt, Eric Andersen, AND Cormac McCarthy! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1970s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items. Both we and our consignor feel it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. Condition: good. The poster has many creases with some scattered brown dot stains. The green marker that was used for two of the autographs has smudged in a part of each autograph (see our image).
