Date Sold 6/12/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Radio Publicity Still (Learn More) Amos 'n' Andy, the famous 1928 - 1955 comedy radio show (about two African American best friends and their families), starring Charles Correll (as "Andy") and Freeman F. Gosden (as "Amos"). Note that in 1930, there was a movie based on the radio show, with Correll and Gosden playing the lead roles in blackface. In 1943, a TV show version was added and it ran until 1955 (when both the TV and the radio show ended), and of course, being on TV, black actors played the parts. Important Added Info: Note that this radio still has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Charles Correll AND Freeman F. Gosden! Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that this signed item (and a number of other signed items in this auction) come from the collection of Lily Mae Caldwell, who was a newspaper film reviewer for many years, starting in the early 1930s and continuing into the 1970s. During her career she met many celebrities, both in person and through correspondence, and over that time she acquired a number of signed items. This item was found in her estate, and while she did not have a Certificate of Authenticity, we feel certain that the autographs on this item (and the other items from her collection in this auction) are surely authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good. The still has some faint smudges around the edges but is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
